Spain To “Register” Those That Refuse Vaccine

Spain announced that it will maintain a registry of the names of people refusing to take the Covid vaccine.

While the Spanish government maintains that the vaccine is not mandatory, the threat of a “register” is of concern to privacy advocates everywhere. Further complicating the issue, Spain is promising to share its list, or register, with other European countries.

According to the Spanish Heath Minister Salvador Illa, the register “will not be public” and will be compiled in full respect of privacy.

Nonetheless, concerns have arisen over how other countries might use the information, including preventing people from travel.

Meanwhile, questions are surfacing as to whether other European Union countries will adopt this practice. And, if so — how will that effect travel between the EU, as well as the U.S. and Europe?

According to a recent poll, the number of Spanish citizens who have said they will not take the vaccine has fallen to 28% from 47% in November.
