LGBTQ Community Says Caitlyn Jenner is ‘Anti-Trans’ (…Even Though Jenner is ‘Trans’)

California gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner grabbed headlines for controversial comments on trans participation in school sports over the weekend, and the LGBTQ community is not happy.

Jenner spoke into the ongoing debate on whether trans girls competing against biological girls in high school sports have an unfair advantage because of biological advantages like testosterone levels. Several trans girls have quickly risen to dominance in track and other competitions, adding to the debate and raising questions over fairness.

Jenner spoke out on the issue over the weekend, saying it “isn’t fair.”

“That’s why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school,” Jenner said. “It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”

The comments sparked backlash for Jenner, who has already come under fire in recent years for voicing support for former President Donald Trump. Jenner later retracted that support for the former president, but critics has piled on in the media and on Twitter.

Jenner also recently announced a bid to run for governor of California, but the LGBTQ community has not expressed their support.

Despite the pushback, Jenner has stood strong.

“I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand,” Jenner said. “It’s an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
