The Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says he needs help.
Admitting that the number of migrants trying to come into America via the U.S. Mexico border is “overwhelming”, Mayorkas called on volunteers to assist.
In an email to staff, and first obtained and reported by Fox, Mayorkas wrote,
“Today, I activated the Volunteer Force to support Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as they face a surge in migration along the Southwest Border.”
Volunteers are needed for non-law enforcement issues including, helping to secure supplies, prescription medicine, assisting with keeping the facilities clean and preparing meals for the migrants.
“You have likely seen the overwhelming numbers of migrants seeking access to this country along the SouthWest border,” he writes. “President Biden and I are committed to ensuring our nation has a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system…”
Mayorkas also pointed out that, “in 2019 over 900 volunteers deployed to support their CBP colleagues during a similar surge. Please consider joining the Volunteer Force to again provide needed humanitarian support along the SouthWest border and relief for our CBP colleagues.”
The Trump administration attempted to thwart the migrant crisis by ending the ability for foreigners at the Southern border to come into the U.S. while awaiting amnesty. Instead, there was a Stay in Mexico policy. The Biden administration ended that and, in turn, there has been a massive wave of migrants into the U.S. It’s increasingly problematic because so many of these people are unaccompanied minors.
Meanwhile, as the U.S. tries to curtail the rise of Covid-19, the migrants are not being tested upon arrival unless they show symptoms. This reality is leading critics of the Biden Administration’s policies to ask, “WHY?”
It’s clear the problem is more than a problem. It is a crisis. And, we don’t have the ability to manage it – hence, the Homeland Security depths request for volunteers to help CBP colleagues.
Keep in mind, the “CBP colleagues” are actually the same people repeatedly vilified during the previous administration. Throughout the 2020 campaign, Democrats promised to abolish ICE and insisted we needed an open border.
Texas, meanwhile, is doing all it can to address the issue and is declaring all-out war on drug traffickers and human smugglers at the border.
