Though she began her professional life in finance, Trish Regan has had a long career as a newswoman.
From 2015-2020 she hosted Trish Regan Primetime and The Intelligence Report with Trish Regan on Fox Business. Her evening program was one of the highest rated programs on the network and the highest rated nightly 8pm program to ever appear on Fox Business. While at Fox, Regan anchored the network’s primetime coverage of Democrat and Republican national conventions. She also anchored two Republican Presidential Debates. In November 2015, Regan moderated the network’s inaugural Republican presidential primary debate, making history as part of the first dual-female team to ever host a presidential debate. The event, which featured candidates earning less than 2.5 percent, delivered 4.7 million total viewers, making it one of the FBN’s highest rated programs ever.
Prior to Fox, Regan was the host of Street Smart with Trish Regan on Bloomberg Television, a daily U.S. market-close program airing around the world from 3-5pm ET. Regan led the network’s television coverage of all Presidential events including the 2012 Presidential campaign. She hosted live primetime shows at the Republican and Democrat Conventions, led the network’s election night coverage and anchored subsequent State of the Union speeches and all major political events. She also contributed documentary programming to the network and her special on the gambling industry The Player: Secrets of a Vegas Whale was one of the network’s most successful.
During her tenure at Fox and Bloomberg, Regan was also a regular financial columnist for USA Today.
Regan joined Bloomberg in 2011 from CNBC where she hosted the 11am daily markets program The Call and produced a series of documentaries. Her primetime documentaries including, Marijuana Inc. and Marijuana USA both examined the then-fledgling underground cannabis industry are still among the network’s highest-rated documentaries. Her work received an Emmy nomination for “Best Documentary.” In addition, her documentary work on the New Orleans levy system “Against the Tide: The Battle for New Orleans” was nominated for a Gerald Loeb award for best television enterprise reporting was awarded a Gerald Loeb Nomination for best television enterprise documentary.
Regan previously worked as a financial and economic correspondent for CBS Evening News, earning an Emmy nomination for her investigative journalism into terrorist-financing in Latin America in 2007. From 2001-1005, Regan was based in San Francisco where she served as a correspondent for CBS MarketWatch (now MarketWatch) and anchored for the CBS affiliate, KPIX-TV. While at MarketWatch, Regan received the award from the Society for Professional Journalists for her broadcast reporting.
Prior to television, Regan spent time working as an analyst in the emerging debt markets group in the Fixed Income division at Goldman Sachs and in a Cambridge division of the hedge fund DE Shaw while pursuing a degree in history at Columbia University.
Regan grew up in New Hampshire and is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy. While at Exeter, she studied classical singing and after graduation from high school, went on to study at New England Conservatory of Music and The American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.
Trish Regan lives with her husband and children (and pet dog Fluffy) in the New York area.
